Aloha! Welcome to THE EMAIL FOSTER PARENT PROGRAM web site. We are a non-profit volunteer organization, supported by the Rotary Club of Honolulu Sunrise, dedicated to helping those children throughout the world who are most in need. The purpose of this web site is twofold: 1) To inform you and/or your group or organization of a great way you can help dozens or even hundreds of orphans in the country of your choice; and, 2) Show you how, as an individual, you can become an email foster parent and help and get to know an orphan in desperate need. We hope you and your group will use this information to help hundreds of children by setting up your own email foster parent program, or you as an individual will be compelled to help one child by becoming an email foster parent. We want you to spread this information far and wide! We all know how many orphans and neglected children there are in our world. This is a direct, easy and enjoyable way to help them. We started our Email Foster Parent Program in Fall 2000 and are now supporting and emailing over one hundred children at an orphanage in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. (See Future Light Orphanage, FLO)
The program is easy to implement and manage and is an efficient, enjoyable and rewarding way to vastly improve the lives of the many orphaned, neglected or destitute children throughout the world. The pictures and email letter below are from our very first email foster child in Cambodia. Over the past few years, through the magic of email, we have gotten to know each other pretty well. I always look forward to receiving his emails and pictures and I know he enjoys hearing from me. Smey is now part of our family. Thanks for your interest in the Email Foster Parent Program! The First Email from Reak Smey
Dear Foster Daddy Rob, My name is Reak Smey, I am 13ys boy. I am orphan. I live with my uncle and my aunt. They are so poor. They cannot support me. My parents died since I was young. I met Ms. Phaly Nuon last year when she went to make a survey on poor women and orphans. I was happy to meet her. Fortunately, she brought me to her orphanage and provide me food and gave me stationeries. It feels like I was reborn in a nice family because she takes care of me. She makes me feel comfortable. I was skini. Now, I get healthy. You can see my photo. I go to orphanage, for meal with orthers friends in the orphanage and for my private study everyday after finish my public school. At the public school I learn only Cambodian subject. I don't know so much english. I am sorry. I do hope you forgive me. I like sport, my hobby is reading a book and listening a song. Why do you want to look for a foster children. Why you like cambodian children. Do you think it is hard for you to contact with me. Thank you so much for your concern. I wish you all the best.
